Ecology & Ethics

Sustainability and durability

To work in tune with nature, we believe is the only way to justify our studios work, and to be able to take pride in what we do. To have an unwavering commitment and dedication to our ecological and social responsibilities as a company and the commitment to trade ethically throughout our business.

From our control directives and the full life cycle of resources to our No waste policy in our production. Our usage of natural materials, clever and minimal packaging solutions made of recyclable materials, shipments partners and inhouse studio routines are all a part of how we work and act.

Our process is about realizing a vision, creating a product, a story, an interior or a collaboration, but also about sourcing. The best and environmentally friendly, certified materials, the best maker and partners. It´s about maintaining a sustainable production chain, building a good relationship with our customers and learn from them, how they want to use our creations. To work with minimal waste, recyclable packaging, how we ship things and to not ship air, to mention some.

To be relevant and to age with grace

We believe that what we choose to make and create is relevant and it must not only practically solve something, but also contribute with bringing yet another function, the function of beauty, humour, idea or creativity. We don´t work with trends, our ambition is that what we create shall be very durable and last for a lifetime, be inherited by the next generation, both regarding quality, function and style.

Code of business conduct

Even if we are a small studio and producer we still have a clear Code of business conduct, explaining the manner in which we behave as an organization and how we expect our employees, suppliers and collaborators to act. We take pride in creating honest, open and collaborative relationships with others who all have a similar ethical ethos to ourselves.

Natural and certified materials

The majority of our products are made from natural materials and fibers and are recyclable. We use materials made locally and in nearby areas as much as possible. We use environmentally friendly production methods, and our ambition is to make our products as close to where we are based as possible. This mean mainly working together with talented craftsmen and source materials in Sweden and Estonia, France and Belgium.

All our fabrics are Oeko-Tex approved, the world's best-known approval body to guarantee our products are free of harmful substances. It stands for customer confidence and high product safety. Our cotton is created with pure GOTS certified organic cotton.

Our products made of wood is FSC-Certified (Forest Stewardship Council) which mean wood from producers who practice responsible forestry – both from an environmental and social point of view.

All our toys are CE-qualified and approved to reach the highest European standard of safety. We mainly work with organic cotton, linen and pure lamb’s wool, but for hygienic reasons (to make things safe, washable and manageable to dry well after laundry) we use synthetic wadding in our stuffed soft toys.

We use only water-based colour and lacquer, which is just as durable as other types, but environmentally clever. All surplus colour is reused in our wallpaper production.

Clever and recyclable packaging and shipping

We pack everything we ship as neat and space saving as possible, we don´t ship air, which may mean not making the most beautifully executed parcels, but the cleverest ones.

We use mainly environmentally certified recyclable paper and eco-friendly glue in our packaging. We have almost no use of plastic in our packaging, only when it´s completely unavoidable to use other materials, for to protect textiles and wallpaper from dampness and dirt. Our plastic fabric wrapping is derived from recycled plastic bottles and is fully recyclable and we are working towards only using corn based recyclable material. We recycle all waste paper and cardboard that we use inhouse and encourage our customers to do the same.

Encouraging circular living and craftsmanship

We strive for to inspire our customers to circular living and to appreciate and understand craftsmanship and its value. To encourage people to get creative with our fabrics, to upcycle, to use pre-loved items and redress old furniture. We source and use vintage and antiques with strong personality in our interiors, and image productions, and also sell some of these items on our web under the section “Unique’s and Vintage”.

Charities

We support humanitarian organizations who work for what we believe is important. Our focus is to support primary children in need, children’s and women’s rights and equality. We also support animal and nature focused organizations who work for the benefit of our planet.

The organizations we support are Unicef, Save the Children, Swedish based Läkare utan gränser (Médecins Sans Frontières, MSF) who are the Nobel Peace Prize Laureates of 1999, the Swedish Royal Society of Nature and WWF.

We always follow what´s going on in our world and stay active in our choices, for example meaning now also supporting Swedish/Ukrainian organization Help_Ukraine_gbg for their work for the suffering people of Ukraine.
