How it all started
Founder Camilla Lundsten grew up in Stockholm archipelago and in the city, where she was educated at Beckmans School of Design.
Her family's origin is from the region of Dalarna up north, and a culture coloured by soulful farmers traditions, beautiful Kurbits decoration and a profound understanding for craftsmanship. Located in a landscape of deep berry filled forests and beautiful lakes, nature has always been present in Camilla's life and work.
After years of working for others, being based in London and Stockholm, in 2001 she finally founded her own Design Studio, Camilla Lundsten Studio.
To be able to work sustainably from start to finish, and with sensible products made by heart, she created Littlephant in 2012. It was the beginning for the brand carrying her own line of selected and relevant living and interior products.
The foundation is locally produced, high quality interior textiles, wallpaper and products for living, carrying her characteristic prints and design.
Everything is made using natural, honest and certified materials, for the love of genuine craftsmanship, and for the making of products that will last and provide true comfort.
Our Scandinavian heritage & making
We are based in Stockholm, Sweden, Scandinavia, Europe and work internationally.
Camilla’s Scandinavian heritage is inspiring us in everything we do. From her design and world of patterns and colours, to our sustainable way of making things and the way we live our lives. We are driven by the passion to help you make your space feel truly at home and your children and their play more creative.
We make most of our products locally in Sweden and in Northern Europe, together with highly skilled craftsmen. Camilla’s work, her design, art and product development is merged with the work of Master Weavers, Printers and Colour Masters in close collaboration.
When all our skills come together we create something truly wonderful. Pieces made to last for a lifetime. Pieces that we hope become a part of your story and history.
Our Littlephant products serve private customers, Interior Designers, Architects and Upholsterers around the world, in projects for private homes and public spaces like hotels, restaurants and offices.
OUR KIDS CHARACTER UNIVERSE & STORIES
Littlephant Play
Littlephant's children’s books and stories, the character universe, creative play and organic toys, are made to boost kid's imagination and development.
This world is based on a little red elephant named Littlephant, who initially gave the name to the brand. In 2008 Littlephant was born through Camilla’s stories and it was this imaginary little fellow who gave her the courage to start a brand of her own.
The stories about the character and his friends is created to help young children explore themselves and their world in a pedagogical way. They embrace the importance of friendship, to stay curios and creative. In many ways this universe also help adults discover their playfulness too.
Several books have been published in Sweden (by Rabén & Sjögren, the publishing house of Camilla's great role model, Author Astrid Lindgren), and in Norway and Denmark. All together 240.000 copies have been printed, imagine that!
The stories have recently been published in English through the audio book streaming service Getepic.com. The character universe “The great small adventured of Littlephant and his friends” is growing and the first steps for an animated serie is being developed.
