Vintage birchwood box - Kurbits from 1936

Unique Swedish Vintage delicate birchwood box from the region of Dalarna. This folkloristic and artistic light birch wood box made by hand is dated 1936. It has beautiful traditional Swedish kurbits painting on a terra red/brown background color. 

These traditional boxes named Kånkask/Svepask in Swedish, used to serve as treasure chests for peoples personal belongings. It was often made by someone in the family as a gift to a family member.

Condition: Mint condition with beautiful patina and traces of history. The lid is slightly curved which means it can't be closed entirely, a very small gap is left on one side. The bottom of the box have a beautiful signature.
